Last night TriKrona introduced us to Epic Duels, a board game based on the Star Wars universe. It was a ton of fun! You could play as Yoda, Luke, Han, Darth or other main characters. Played on a board with small figures, you draw cards that you use to dictate your actions. The games go quickly and you can play over and over again. I think we played 5 games last night. If you're a Star Wars fan you should definetly try to find a copy of this game. Unfortunately, it's out of print. Ebay, here we come!

Shutter Girl forgot to mention the trash talk that figures into the game. More of a tradition than actual rules, mockery of the other player chacarters and gratuitous cursing abounds. Or at least it does in my games...
And if you manage to make it fit the Star Wars universe even better.

This is true! Verbally abusing one another is half the fun. ;D And if you're a real weirdo you can imitate the voices of the characters. Not that any of us would ever do that....

And the fact that we had been drinking all night did not influence our review Definitely a great game. I am surprised it did not get more widespread accolades. Also I am sure that if Trikrona and Shutter Girl did not team up against me I would have survived longer. Finally I got Yoda as my main character and then kicked some serious butt!

The best board game of this ilk I have ever played is Avalon Hill Titan. I was lucky to buy one before they went out of print--I just checked on Ebay and they're going for almost $100. I did find an online version of the game, though. colossus.sourceforge.net/

Funny how great games can still go out of print. Maybe if they market them better? I checked the link out--sounds like a cool game Stu. The hexagon map brought back war game memories. Weird how gaming has changed. Don't get me wrong--I love the current crop of computer/videogames. I have been a fan since the beginning with pong. Still, I remember playing card and board games for hours on end when I was a kid. It seems to be a lost cause today. Even when a good new game comes out it goes out of print within a short time. Shutter Girl and I have made a pledge to play more board/card games this year. Hopefully more people will make one as well
