Anybody catching any concerts this year? /quote]
Springsteen - Magic Tour - another incredible performance by Bruce and the E Street Band. Buffalo always seems to bring out the best in him.
John Hiatt/Lyle Lovett - on stage together - acoustic. Wonderful singer-songwriters - alternating songs and exchanging banter. The great respect between the two evident. Songs passionately delivered. Hiatt's gritty songs and Lovett's unbelievable voice make for an amazing evening.
Radiohead - in the midst of 20,000+ half my age I found myself enjoying the music immensely and starting to understand the praise given.
Peter Murphy - an intense, exhilirating, mesmerizing club show from he of Bauhaus fame (and incredibly good solo work, too)
Richard Thompson - he never disappoints - and two hours of his solo acoustic performance in Toronto was no exception. Beeswing and 1952 Vincent Black Lightning highlights among many highlights. A master of his craft.
Dream Theater (with
Opeth,
Three and
Between the Buried and Me) - first exposure to my son's favorite group - one with which he is obsessed. Talented musicians who show their appreciation to passionate fans. I survived BTBM and Opeth - my body battered and bruised, but still alive. Opeth great - BTBM horrible. Three was refreshingly good.
David Wilcox - warm and soothing - a great singer-songwriter in an intimate setting.
The Police with Elvis Costello - Elvis almost blew The Police away with a stellar opening set, but Sting and the boys delivered a massive string of well crafted and well performed tunes.
Tickets in hand for
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in December.
So far a damn good year for me.
