Tonight Shutter Girl and I watched Fahrenheit 451 on Turner Classic Movies. For those of you not familiar with it books are outlawed and firemen have the job of burning them. One fireman decides to start reading the books he is supposed to be burning. At the end the main character meets the "book" people. Each person has picked one book that they have committed to memory before it could be burned. They introduce themselves as the book they memorized. The idea is to keep the great works from being lost. This got me thinking what book would I chose to be? What about the rest of you? I will have to ponder this for awhile

I will have to ponder this for awhile RJ, I continue to think about this question, but have not come to any conclusions as yet. Have you? Has anyone here? With all the reading I have done recently, it is a question that becomes increasingly intriguing. MQ

I still don't know, either!
I can't decide if I would choose some great work of literature or just a book I really enjoyed. Stephen King or Charles Dickens? Modern bestseller or ancient classic?
If I had to decide this very second I think I might pick Drop City or A Walk in the Woods. Silly choices, I know, but they're two books that really struck a chord with me for some reason.

OK, how about this? We choose one great work of literature. We pick another we really enjoyed. We pick another that reflects a bit of who we are. By the way, Drop City was incredibly good. It was enjoyable and effortless to read. The writing resonated with me - the rhythm of the book felt just right. MQ

I like that plan too.
MQ, I was still trying to decide if I should pick the book I most felt should be saved or the book that touched me the most. Or the one that I wished I would have wrote!
Time to start thinking of titles.
