Mead! Yes, that's right, honest to goodness honey beer. One of our fave brewpubs, the Brew Kettle, gets some unusual brews in every once in a while and last night they offered a wonderful apricot mead. If you've never had mead before it's definetly worth a go. It's rather sweet (and strong! 8% alcohol! ) but it goes down smooth and harkens back to times of old when mead was the brew of choice. Made me want to break into a chorus of Cold Wind to Valhalla, I can tell you!! And Trikrona's Blackthorne Cider was rather nice as well... Here's to drinks of old, may they never go out of style.

Well, not last night, but last week. While in Milwaukee (yes, Milwaukee), I had dinner in a German restaurant (where else would one eat in Milwaukee?) - and had a Hacker-Pschorr Weisse beer. Beer afficianados, any opinions on this beer?

I have to admit I have never had that beer MQ. I have not seen it anywhere around my area. But since I am not a big German beer fan and especially not much of a wheat beer fan it may be available and I just did not notice. I hope you enjoyed it. SG and I love to sample new brews we find when we are on our travels. Some are only so-so, but occasionally you find one that is exceptional ;D
