Last night SG and I met our friends Jon and George for the Tempest concert at the Beachland Ballroom. First was dinner at the Grovewood Tavern and Wine Bar. Dinner was ok, but nothing special and considering the price I am not sure if I will eat there again. They did have an impressive wine and beer list. Then it was off to the Beachland for the show. Last night's show was in the tavern half of the venue which is rather small. I guess that turned out ok since there were only 16 of us total in the place. The last time Tempest passed through our area they also played in the tavern and had a crowd about as small. I don't understand why more people would not want to see this band. Small crowd or not they put on a great show. The lineup of Leif, James, Adolpho, Damien and Michael was different from the last time, buy every bit as good. After the show we got a chance to chat with all the members. Some of the nicest guys you would want to meet. The fiddle player Michael Mullen was wearing a Tull tour shirt for the show! Turns out he is a big fan and we promised to pass on some cds to him. A great night all around. I just hope that the small turnout again does not discourage them from passing through Cleveland in the future. They usually come through Ohio every year so we may have to start driving a little farther from now on. They are definitely worth the effort though

Hard to believe those guys play to so few. They are quite good - and I wish I had a chance to see them. Isn't Willy Porter playing there soon? Yes, just looked - April 24th. MQ
