We finally got to finish the miniseries tonight! SG was able to get a copy from work. I was a little worried this dvd would be damaged like the previous one we tried--cylon conspiracy? I have to say I liked it. We are still waiting on season 1 so I will withhold final judgement until seeing a few more episodes.
MQ I think you will like it. It is science fiction, but like all good scifi it brings up a lot of interesting questions and ideas that go beyond scifi.

It is science fiction, but like all good scifi it brings up a lot of interesting questions and ideas that go beyond scifi. As I said, it gets far, FAR better. The first episode of the first season (not the miniseries) is called "33"--for reasons made clear when you see it and it is brilliant. MQ, unless you're a total fanatic like me don't buy it--rent it from Netflix or something. Stubedoo

My issue with McGuire was that he was a total schmuck when he testified in front of Congress. When he took the androstenedione it actually wasn't illegal at the time and he made no secret about it. I don't know why he hemmed and hawed like he did--unless he actually took illegal substances like Barry.
I agree with you re: the double standard. On the one hand they kick Pete Rose out of baseball for life because he gambled, but on the other hand they allow Barry Bonds to keep playing despite his admission that he used steriods (he says unknowingly).
That said keeping MM out of the HOF will send a signal to other players that they are on notice.

Seven episodes in now. I know we will be buying the dvds soon. Yes, it is that good. I loved the original, but have to say this is one of those remakes done right. The producers are true fans who want to keep the spirit of the original alive, but in an up to date world. Top notch writing and even better acting makes this a must see for sci-fi fans ;D
I have to add one of my favorite writers/directors Josh Whedon says this show is the best thing on television right now and may be the best of all time...

I watched an episode of Firefly yesterday because it happened to be on TV. It was "The Messege". The story opens up with Kaylee and Simon looking at the upside down fetal cow and Simon insulting Kaylee again. The episode was cute and clever and all, but I found myself thinking that BSG was even better. BTW, if you're trying to catch up to current episodes, they've just finished the first half of season 3. They won't be doing a new episode until the end of January.

We finished season 1 and are waiting on our library for season 2. Excellent writing and acting! We were not expecting the surprise at the end of the last episode.
Firefly rocks! You have to see it from the beginning to fully appreciate it.

In fact I watch my Firefly DVDs much more often than my Battlecrack DVDs, and I've seen Serenity about 6 times all told. I just like Battlecrack a) because they're still doing new episodes and b) the quality remains extremely high and c) they're still doing new episodes.. It's far FAAR better than a lot of the other space opera drek that has come out in the last 10 years. Firefly wasn't really space opera and I love space opera. Stubedoo

Those kinds of games are for the really hard-core RPGer. The problem is that you have to learn a whole new gaming system.

RJ and I purchased season 2.0 of Gacracktica and we watched the first two episodes (2 parter) last night. It was good enough to be a major motion picture, what a wonderful job they do on that show. And the deleted scenes were so good, they really should have added them back into shows when they released the dvds. Some of those takeouts are sort of essential to the plot of the show and gave some really good background info.
Stubedoo, I read in Entertainment Weekly that they think Baltar might have a chip in his head and that's why he can see, interact with and be guided by the Cylon. What do you think?
BTW, did you notice that Baltar is Ratlab spelled backwards? Hmmm.....
