Today SG and I caught part of the movie Twister on cable tv. Now this is one of our favorite movies to watch. I have to say cable almost ruined it for me. I can't believe the number of commercials that interrupted the movie. Plus, because we have seen the movie before, we were able to notice quite a few parts that were cut. The parts removed were not even objectionable at all. It was just so more commericals could be shown. One last thing that really bothered me was having to have the cable channel logo showing on the screen for the entire movie. Do they really think we don't know what channel we are watching? No wonder people are watching less and less television these days

I always thought that they put the logo on the bottom of the screen in case you taped it people would know you taped it from their channel. Here's another totally crazy logo trend: More stations are having these huge animated logos/commercials during the movie or show. I was watching a subtitled film once and the cutesy animated logo came on and it completed covered the subtitles so I couldn't see what the characters in the film were saying. D-oh!!! How dumb is that? Last night the Sopranos started a few minutes late so we could watch some HBO ads. I guess everyone has their schtick. As far as the editing goes... they think we're dumb and won't notice the difference. They figure as long as it isn't pertinent to the storyline it can be removed with no remorse. What they did to Twister is basically cut out any of the relationship builders or subplots and just showed the action. Talk about dumbing down a movie, that's crazy.
