Has anyone been watching any new TV shows this season. We have been watching Supernatural on Tuesday nights and Invasion on Wednesday nights in addition to our regular shows. For me Supernatural is the better of the two. In it each week two brothers investigate an urban legend or ghost story. These are all legends/ghost stories most people who like that sort of thing have heard of. I am in that group so it is fun to see their take on them. Does anyone else have any new favorites to add?

I don't watch a lot of TV these days (this is a gross understatement!), but the last truly great (IMO) show that I did watch was "Band of Brothers" - HBO series. In fact, I found this series to be so good that I went out and bought the DVD-set... (actually, I didn't "go out", I just sat back and PC-ordered it from Amazon.uk) - but I believe this show was first aired on The BBC about 5 or 6 years ago... which just goes to show how "current" and up-to-date I am.
I seem to have lost all interest in TV. This is not the result of a conscious decision on my part, just a gradual process that seems to tie in with the fact that these days I prefer to choose my own brand of home entertainment from off the DVD counter or the book store (or the Amazon mail order service) at my own leisurely pace, be it music, current affairs or any mindless tv series that happens to grab my fancy at any given moment (and there aren't many of those..... another gross understatement!).
As for current affairs, I find that the internet is a perfectly adequate news medium and each morning I start my day by going over the headlines as they appear on the news section of my "Home Page" of choice. <www.start.msn.co.il>
So to answer your question Repairman..... I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute by way of new and interesting TV shows (yet another gross understatement!)... but you did provide me with a platform on which to say my piece on the subject matter at hand.

My interest in television has waned over the past several years. I grew up in the 70s, when television was king and basically, that's all you did on evenings. Now I watch it more out of habit than anything else. We have digital cable so we get some great documentary channels. As far as television shows go, I enjoy watching shows with artistic appeal or that bring something different to the genre. There's not a whole lot of that this season, Rome probably fits into that category the best out of any of the current shows. Lost is good because of its twists and turns and sort of cyclical nature. Other than that, we're watching more and more documentaries like Anthony Bordain's No Reservations (fabulous!), Mythbusters (scientifically interesting and pretty damn amusing) and Real Time with Bill Maher (heady political debate with sensible conclusions). Welcome back, Max.
