Ian had this to say about one of my favorite bands, the Red Hot Chili Peppers:
"And last summer my son took me to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Hyde Park, and we went backstage to meet the band. The guitar player, John (Fruscante), came out of the trailer and was excited to meet me. He said, `Let Martin Barre know his guitar playing had a big influence on me. Some of the things I played tonight were loosely based on something I got from him in one of your songs.' Then he plays a bit of the song, I think it was `Thick as a Brick,' and I had to tell him, `John, that was me playing guitar on that song.' So you hear these things and it's flattering. It's most flattering when they are influenced by something instead of when they just copy or mimic you."
Ok, now I'm wondering which RHCP song John was talking about! If anyone has any idea, let me know...

OK, how about a quotation from a former band member?
In Jonathan Noyce's latest MySpace blog:
"Since vacating the circus known as Jethro Tull in 2006, in which I was a member since 1995, I have been involved with all kinds of new and wondrous musical entities."
Funny.

He probably does it by keeping his head down and his mouth shut.
