Shutter Girl and I watched the unrated version of Dawn of the Dead tonight on dvd. This is the remake of George Romero's classic movie. We had seen the theater version before--this one added a few scenes to it. It also had some bonuses on the dvd. One of them was a 15 minute video of Andy's last days. No not that Andy--the one from the movie that owned the gun store. In it he made a reference to Tull ;D In talking about the zombies outside of his store he said there were so many it was like standing shoulder to shoulder at a Jethro Tull concert.
This made me think of if there are other Tull references in other movies. I can think of two more: Beautiful Girls and Armegeddon. Can anyone think of any others?

This isn't a reference exactly, but it's more a song inclusion: Teacher is played whilst the main character of Almost Famous is attempting to get backstage. The funniest thing about it is that our first backstage Tull experience was almost exactly like that scene --- everything looked the same and there was a mean guard on the other end!

Another song reference is the movie Mystery, Alaska. This is a strange one though--for some reason Ian refuses to admit it although the credits list him. We can include television too. There was an episode of That 70's Show that had all Tull songs in it and one of the characters in the show Hyde has worn Tull t-shirts

Not sure which track from This Was it was but you can here it being played at the beginning of Woodstock.
Here in the 51st state, BBC2 is showing Rock and Roll circus on Boxing Day. A chance to see Tony Iommi doing the biz for Tull.

Wow Aitch, I've never heard about the Woodstock connection! You know, Tull were asked to play Woodstock but didn't want to play a 'hippie festival'. Funny, that! Actually, I'm not sure that'd fit in with the crowd. I can see Ian rolling his eyes at all of the phreaks there. Iommi rawks! I'm glad he didn't stay because I love Martin so very much but it's good that he did so well by Sabbath. It's weird to see a different guitarist in Tull, isn't it? Welcome to you, Aitch! Enjoy yourself and hop right in! Annette

I recall something like; Tull knew a band that was at Woodstock and they talked on the phone. This other band said that it's an out of controll situation and Tull decided to pass. Re: the hippie factor. In 1968-'9-'0, hippies were 99.9% of Tull's fans. Ian may admit now that he hates hippies but believe me, he loved them from their headbands down to their mocacasins back then. He pretended to be one with them (if not of them) and he told jokes of smoking fingernails and he openly chug-a-lugged whiskey on stage. It was way uncool to be a straight (non-imbiber) back then.

Welcome to you, Aitch! Enjoy yourself and hop right in! Annette Thanks. I ought to point out ( for those in England I suppose) that RocknRoll Circus is on 12.10 am on Boxing Day. It's listed really as being on Christmas Day night - if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the info, Aitch! I wish they showed more stuff like that on TV here, we don't get crap. We have a classic video channel here and I wished they would make more of an effort to show specials like R'n'R Circus, Old Grey Whistle Test, etc. It's really disappointing that they don't.
Kram, I love to see Ian take a nice slug of booze now and again. That scene in Sight and Sound where he takes a wine break is really pretty funny!
We watched an Old Grey Whistle Test dvd. I shall discuss it elsewhere here...

Off hand, a movie I saw with a Tull reference was Moonlight Mile, but I forgot which song was played...a highly recognizable one, LB or Aqualung...something of that ilk.
