Is anyone out there planning on purchasing any of the next gen consoles? The Xbox 360 comes out later this month with the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Revolution following later next year. I know SG and I will be purchasing at least one, if not more of these systems. It will be at least a year before we do though. I am in no hurry to make the plunge. There are still plenty of current gen games to play and best of all the prices of these games will drop once the new consoles come out. Also, after the initial run the prices will drop on the next gen stuff too so I am content to wait. This is a great time to be a video gamer ;D

Weeeeeeeee! Wi.
An experiment in trying to anticipate my boys' desire to embrace a new concept in gaming, I recently purchased a Wii game system. Given their first four hours of play, I think it is something they will enjoy, something that will provide a change of pace to their usual controller habits.
As you know, the Wii remote incorporates arm and hand motion of the player into the various games. Given that, Madden '07 demands a new twist on the hand-eye coordination of the gamer. Wii bowling allows me experiment with more or less wrist action, while not necessitating the wearing of musty and funny looking shared shoes. Excite Truck teaches my boys how to steer like pros, except that the points given for "great crashes" will not make the insurance company happy when they try the same in the family car. Wii baseball allows me to literally swing and hit them out of the park without the need of steroids or an absolutely foul attitude. Wii boxing allows me an upper body workout, the ability to beat the sh*t out of an opponent, without fear of an eventual shuffling gait and clouded mind.
The boys have enjoyed so far. We'll see if it has staying power with them. Personally, I have been thoroughly entertained with the creation of my Mii, my gaming alter ego - graying, balding, bearded and bespectacled. Perfect!
Now to find second, third and fourth remotes in a store...

I hope you don't mind if RJ and I stop by soon to play with your Wii. Hell, I'll even play with your Wii in front of RJ and I bet he won't even mind! He's a liberal thinker, after all... ;-) When are you getting Legend of the Twilight Princess?

My Wii is always available. ;D As for Legend of the Twilight Princess - minor calls for it so far from the main audience. I am sure we will get it at some point, but they don't feel rushed at this point. MQ

Congrats on your purchase! I have to say I am jealous. Nintendo has never forgotten that video games are supposed to be fun. I am sure many happy hours will be spent on your purchase.

Yesterday I bowled a 290 on the Wii. So close to a perfect game! Of course my 41 year old nephew has bowled one 300 and two games of 299. The game addictive and obssessive-compulsive nature of the family is no different with the Wii than other forms of entertainment on to which we have latched. I have gone so far as to keep an Excel spreadsheet of my bowling scores, single game and 3-game series averages, average of recent 10 series, etc.! Yikes, I need a life. ;D MQ

Max... you rock. On tomorrow night's agenda: Getting back to playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360! My self-made hero (Carnelian) is going to forget who I am if I don't pick him up and play again soon.
