Is anyone playing Doom 3? I am a little more than halfway through right now. Like the previous ones it is all about shooting everything in sight. It is a first person shooter with some of the most gorgeous graphics I have seen in a game. They tried to put in a plot this time which does make sense in a way, but it is secondary to the gameplay. The sound and lighting really stand out and I have jumped more than once when a creature appeared out of the dark. There are various weapons you can find as you proceed through the levels. Each weapon has it advantages and disadvantages against certain enemies. The gameplay is very linear with a minimal of backtracking. For those who like their FPS fast and furious this is a must buy. It has some pretty hefty PC requirements so for those who don't have one able to run it an Xbox version will be out soon.

I havn't seen Doom 3 but I played Doom 2 to the end with my brother in law. At one point we networked the computers together to see how group play would look like. We first started out trying to shoot each other, but that quickly became boring. What ended up happenning is that every time one of us died, the dead body would be left in place, and another body would plop into existance right on top of the old one. As both of us continued to die we just piled bodies on top of bodies. It was funny for awhile, and then it got boring.
We ended up playing cooperatively, and it was much better.

Half Life 2 comes out November 16 ;D
This is the sequel to one of the best FPS of all time. I just LOVED the first game. Expectations are high, but I think the sequel will be even better. The graphics look incredible--I just hope the storyline is as good.

Is that an online version of Quake, Stu?[/quote Yes, I think you can play online. I'm not sure if you need a LAN or you can play over the internet. When CompUSA remanders software they just put it in the jewel case and throw out all the documentation. Then they put it on a bit rack to save space. Why, you thinking of playing?

Why, you thinking of playing? Not at the moment, we'd have to hook up a cable modem first. Do you plan on playing online? Would be fun to play online with a bunch of folks that we know!

I hadn't planned on playing online, actually, but it might be fun to try to set up. I've played over a local area network, but that's different.
